How this quadriplegic medical student overcame the odds
Dr Dinesh Palipana has found the grit to become Queensland’s first quadriplegic medical intern.
The Griffith University medical graduate began his internship last week, nearly six years to the day after a horrific car crash fractured his cervical spine at C6/C7 level.
The accident happened at the start of his third year of medical school.
Having only minimal use of his upper limbs and sensation of the medial aspect of his hands, the Sri Lankan-born student’s prospects of returning to university looked grim.
